Government stalls economy by monopolizing technology
What is it like to have an internet connection in the 3rd world? With a corrupt money-hungry government monopolizing internet pipes with rediculous prices, a country with so much potential staggers behind in the world technology industry. Corporations to end consumers suffer from lack of speeds and overpriced (and unreliable) internet services. This is what it is like for most who live in Lebanon, where there is just so much potential, the government has definitely put up a glass ceiling for themselves in the internet world.
Why should a government of the same old men be in control of an industry which they do not fully understand? Their short term greed in keeping prices high and giving poor service has a negative impact on the country’s economic abilities. They do not get the fact that by allowing companies to establish new infrastructure and develop a proper IT industry, that other industries will also benefit from more business opportunities, the chump change they are making today is holding the entire country back from economic growth.

Pandora.com now only for the US
A couple of years ago I discovered Pandora.com, an excellent internet radio site that let’s you choose what kind of music you want to listen to, and better still, it lets you vote on the songs it choses for you, it takes this information and tries to find songs that are closer to your taste so that you can discover new music you’ve never heard before, that you will enjoy. A remarkable idea brought on by the Music Genome Project.
